Technology media NeoWin published a blog post today (May 22), reporting that Microsoft pushed the May update, adding GeForce NOW cloud gaming options to the PC version of the Xbox app, upgrading the Xbox Game Bar, and more.
Microsoft launched the much-anticipated Retro Classics app for Xbox players in the May update. This app is designed for Game Pass members and includes more than 50 classic Activision games. Players can relive these nostalgic works on consoles and PCs and experience the charm of classic games.
In terms of cloud gaming, Microsoft has brought convenient updates to PC players. Now, when selecting cloud gaming through the Xbox app, the system will pop up an option window asking players whether to use Microsoft's own Xbox cloud server or Nvidia's GeForce NOW platform.
For example, when playing the game "Indiana Jones: The Ancient Circle", players can quickly switch platforms according to their preferences. It is worth noting that this option is only available for games that also support GeForce NOW.
Microsoft has also updated the Xbox Game Bar and updated the settings widget to support PC players to quickly adjust settings such as volume, screen brightness, compact mode, connected devices, and even display a virtual keyboard.
Microsoft also stated that Game Bar will introduce Microsoft Edge Game Assist, and players can open the built-in browser to find guides or any website they like.
Microsoft also showed off the Xbox Play Anywhere results. Since 2025, more than 70 games have launched this feature. Players only need to buy the game once to play cross-platform on Xbox and Windows platforms and share achievements, archives and DLC.
Microsoft also updated the Xbox Rewards system, where users can use points in the rewards center to customize any amount (between US$5 and US$100).
